Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty

By Norman McGary
This book is a real treasure. Based on Walt Disney's widescreen animated fairytale epic Sleeping Beauty, this is a nostalgic exact reprint of the storybook created for the film in 1959. It is illustrated with original artwork created especially for storybooks. It is a shame that more people have not discovered this wonderful book. It's one of those books that you can read to your children at bedtime and they can be captivated by the illustrations. It is one of those books that you keep in your bookcase after the children have gown up and you can pull it out from time to time and just reminisce.

Disney's Sleeping Beauty

By McGraw-Hill Childrens Publishing
The recent No Child Left Behind and Reading First initiatives make it more important than ever for parents to be involved in their children's education--particularly in the area of reading. Now parents can help children read with solid, research-based materials--and all the fun and wonder of the Disney Princesses: Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast. This unique book series gives parents an opportunity to help their children learn how to read--as they share the books together. The books are easy to use: On the left-hand pages, a passage appears for parents to read out loud to their children. This passage contains age-appropriate sight words that have been identified as crucial for reading development. The sight words are highlighted in red so that the child can see them in context. On the right-hand page, a short passage appears with the same sight words. By recognizing the sight words introduced earlier, the child, with practice, will be able to read the passage and continue the story. A special hands-on activity section at the end of the book allows children to reinforce the skills they have learned and to extend their reading comprehension skills.

Her mother is expecting a baby and, with six younger brothers and stepbrothers, it is not difficult to see the connection between her and a sleeping princess. Yukiko's one desire is for her mother to have a baby girl. If the new baby were a girl, she would finally have someone to share her secrets with. Plus, she would not be the only girl in the family.
